The Omni Shoreham is also an excellent choice and is located in Rock Creek Park. Some more moderately priced hotels in the downtown and surrounding areas of DC are the Marriott, Hilton and the Holiday Inn.
If you intend to visit a pricier hotel and want to save some nickels and dimes, try searching for available accommodations online through companies such as Hotwire, Hotels.com and Nextag. Taking the time to do this can get you a great discount on a much nicer hotel than you could normally afford. Hotels in Washington DC are generally booked during the week due to a high volume of business travelers. So, doing your research will pay off immensely here. Cheap hotels, especially in the downtown area of DC are not too easy to come by, but it can be done if you are diligent in your search and flexible in your travel dates.
