French Quarter Hotels
If you are planning a trip to New Orleans, your hotel accommodations are probably the most important arrangement you will make. New Orleans is a city rich in history and culture and where you stay can have a dramatic affect on your experience as a whole. There are several things to consider before you make a decision on your hotel. First of all and most obviously, you should know what you want to see and where you want to visit on your trip. For example, if you intend to visit New Orleans and shop till you drop, a downtown New Orleans hotel is probably a good choice. However, if you have plans to visit other outlying areas of New Orleans and Louisiana, you will save a lot of money by staying outside the city. There are many fine hotels in New Orleans, especially in the district known as the French Quarter.
If you plan to stay downtown, especially in the French Quarter (Bourbon Street), you can expect to pay BIG bucks! This is a general rule of course, but hotels such as the Royal Sonesta, Monteleone New Orleans and the Monaco hotel will cost you a pretty penny. As will the new Ambassador hotel in the Arts district in New Orleans. However, if style and elegance is what you are after, it is no doubt worth it. The French Quarter is absolutely stunning and full of history. You will feel like you stepped back in time and the French Quarter hotels reflect this precious history. More moderately priced hotels such as the Doubletree, Marriott and Intercontinental provide travelers with timeless class and service and are easier on the wallet.
I highly recommend staying in a Bourbon street hotel in the French Quarter district of New Orleans if you can afford it. It is the best way to really get a taste of the city. If you desire to stay in one of the pricier French Quarter hotels such as the Royal Sonesta, but find it too hard on your wallet, try searching for available accommodations online through companies such as Hotwire, Hotels.com and Nextag. Taking the time to do this can get you a great discount on a much nicer hotel than you could normally afford. New Orleans French Quarter hotels are generally pretty full during spring break season, fall and winter. So, doing your research will pay off immensely here. Cheap hotels, especially in the French Quarter area are not too easy to come by, but it can be done if you are diligent in your search and flexible in your travel dates.
